Extruder Operator

Manages extrusion machine(s) with 1 inch to 3 inch diameters that have 4 to 8 heat zones and extrudes a poly plastic coat continuously over wire. Verifies and tests all wire and cable by using calipers and cutters. Determines the correct outer diameter, wall thickness, conductor gauge, and whether the wire/conductor is centered. Verifies the proper label on each spool and the proper coding printed on the jacket.

Verifies that the label matches the traveler and is placed on the correct reel size. Also works with and periodically cross trains an Extruder Assistant. Assists in the Extrusion Assistant position when needed, including packaging products and materials. Operates a Dual Reel Take Up (up to 72 inches), walk-through take up machine, spark box, dialed or touch screen, and sets up an ink wheel or programs an ink jet print system.

Also adheres to all palletizing procedures when applicable. Quality assurance and verification is a priority as a Primary Extruder Operator. Completes any and all other duties requested or assigned.
