Hatchery General Laborer (Trion, GA) – Perdue Farms

Cleans hatchers, hatcher tops and hatcher room to maintain a low to zero bacteria and mold level, empties hatcher racks, and performs various duties such as Egg Setter, Sanitation, Culling, and Tray Wash.
Principal &Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Cleans hatchers, hatcher tops and hatcher room to maintain a low to zero bacteria and mold level.
- Empties hatcher racks back into the hatcher room at completion of clean up.
- Uses broom, shovel, mop and scrub brushes to remove chick down, and works with chemicals to effectively wash and disinfect hatchers through hand scrubbing and high‑pressure washer.
- Follows poultry welfare guidelines.
- Lifts trays and lids (≈4 lb.) from tray washer and stacks the trays on a clean hatcher dolly to meet production requirements of 585 trays per hour.
- Stacks trays 15 high (≈6 ft) and rolls the completed stack weighing ≈75 lb. to storage area.
- Performs light maintenance on tray washer by climbing a ladder ≈6 ft high.
- Clears washroom area after production using hoses, detergents, and disinfectants with some hand scrubbing while wearing proper PPE.
- Performs any other duties assigned by management.
- Prepares an egg set sheet based on inventory and incoming loads, sets eggs in the order of young, old and prime, and prepares tickets.
- Unloads egg trucks as they arrive, pushes racks, reloads trucks, and cleans egg trucks prior to reloading.
- High school or equivalent.

Experience Preferred- Reading and writing skills.
Physical Requirements
- Exposed to temperatures ranging from 60 to 105 °F and humidities up to 100 %.
- Exposed to chemicals, drups, and vaccines; covered in MSDS training and hazardous communications.
- Uses personal protective equipment as required.
- Ability to lift 4 lb. to a height of 6 ft, to push 75 lb. a distance of 75 ft, and lift 20–25 lb. to a height of 3 ft.
- Must work in a wet, damp, dusty (chick down) environment.
