JOB TITLE
TECHNICIAN – QUALITY ASSURANCE
LOCATIONEllijay, Georgia
SUMMARYThe Quality Assurance Technician performs physical and visual inspections to verify compliance with product specifications, quality standards, and food safety regulations. This role reports to the Quality Assurance Lead or Supervisor and works closely with production and safety teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Comply with all Food Safety, Quality Assurance policies, USDA regulations, and facility procedures.
- Conduct inspections to ensure products meet internal and customer specifications, taking corrective action when non‑compliance is observed.
- Perform product reviews to confirm grading, packaging, and weight compliance.
- Monitor team members’ work practices, identify deficiencies, and provide feedback or report issues to supervisors.
- Inspect production areas for foreign material contamination risks.
- Check equipment for cleanliness and proper working condition before start‑up or during processing, recording findings accurately.
- Collect, track, and implement numerical data related to quality metrics.
- Communicate effectively with all management levels and USDA representatives.
- Support production demands as assigned by supervisors, including cross‑training where necessary.
- Minimum computer skills and willingness to learn company software.
- Physical ability to move, open, and inspect plant‑produced products.
- Stand on concrete surfaces up to four continuous hours; work a minimum of 8 hours per shift.
- Navigate all areas of the processing facility while following safety procedures.
- Perform strenuous work in a damp environment with a wide range of temperatures.
- Dependable, prompt, with strong integrity and work ethic.
- Work independently, exhibiting company values to uphold quality and FSQA programs.
- Understand and follow instructions; learn poultry processing methods and practices.
- Work varying shifts, including weekends, as processing schedules change.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating clearly and cooperating with coworkers and leadership teams.
- Cross‑train in other departments as QA, affecting schedule flexibility.
High school diploma or equivalent.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREDNone.
JOB SKILLS- Math: knowledge of averages, percentages, and fractions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Read and write English fluently.
- Use a calculator.
- Use a ruler.
- Use a tablet for monitoring checks.
