Required Education & Experience
  • Minimum Associate degree in Nursing
  • Current, valid certification in the state of Georgia as Registered Nurse
  • Current, valid AHA Healthcare Provider training (BCLS and ACLS)
  • 2 years of Emergency Department experience

The registered nurse position is responsible for rendering emergency nursing care in terms of individualized patient needs with recognized nursing techniques, procedures, and established standards based on the scope of nursing. Promotes the physical and mental health of patients by applying the nursing processes. This position is a member of the interdisciplinary team for patient care.

Essential Functions
  • Collect current symptoms and detailed patient history, then consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
  • Perform triage, considering physical and psychosocial elements
  • Manage basic life support needs and stabilize patients until the attending physician is available, based upon nursing standards and protocols
  • Initiate corrective action when monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology
  • Record patient’s current vital signs
  • Assist physicians during exams, diagnostic testing, and treatments
  • Administer and record medications (orally, subcutaneously, IV) and report adverse reactions according to policy
  • Provide IV therapy
  • Cleans and bandages wounds
  • Provide basic bedside care
  • Maintain proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for patients
  • Report any suspected abuse to appropriate agencies
  • Initiate patient education plan per physician prescription. Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, explain post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation, and refer to other healthcare professionals as needed
  • Display professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner
  • Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and forms
  • Float among various clinical services, where qualified and competent
