Position Summary

The Manager of Quality Assurance, Canning is responsible for overseeing quality assurance processes within our canning operations, ensuring that all products meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role requires a proactive leader who will develop and implement quality control procedures, manage a QA team, and collaborate with various departments to drive continuous improvement in product quality and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor QA protocols specific to the canning process.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and mentor the quality assurance team, providing training on best practices and quality standards.
  • Foster a culture of quality and accountability within the team.
  • Stay current with industry regulations (FDA, USDA) and ensure that canning processes comply with all legal and safety standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with production and R&D teams to implement solutions.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and quality initiatives.
  • Maintain thorough records of quality assurance activities, including inspections, test results, and compliance reports.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Master’s degree in food science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of canning processes, food safety regulations, and quality management systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively conveying information to various audiences.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Able to walk and stand, use arms and legs for long periods of time including wrist turning and finger manipulation.
  • Employee stands frequently with tasks requiring consistent bending, stooping, kneeling, or crawling to complete; lift, carry and push/pull occasionally of up to 50 pounds is required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme temperature conditions.
  • Job locations can be consistently 40 degrees or below.
  • The noise levels at work are moderate to loud and hearing protection is required.
