Job Overview
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
CoreResponsibilities
- Perform most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
- Complete each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
- Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
- Take at least 9 photos of the property with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in a mobile application.
- Spend extended periods driving, making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
- Computer with internet connection.
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you pay for your own gas).
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
- Printer.
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume, but the estimated earnings are between $30–$40 per hour
. Depending on the county (urban or rural), you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month while working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates; high‑volume counties offer lower rates. Mileage is covered only by the flat fee per inspection.
