Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR INSPECTIONS is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders in Reno, NV. The role is suitable for independent contractors who can manage time, meet deadlines, and work flexibly. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but strong organizational skills are essential.
What is an Occupancy Verification?The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities- Most common type of inspection should only take 5‑6 minutes.
- Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
- Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
- Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in an app.
- Be able to spend extended periods of time driving, making numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
- Computer with an internet connection
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas)
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone)

- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on the county (urban or rural) you will complete anywhere from 20‑500 inspections per month working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates.
The work is consistent month to month, and you earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
