Location: Whitworth Women's Facility, 414 Valley Hart Road, Hartwell, GA 30643

Pay: $45,806 – $53,347 per year (range based on experience)

Job Summary: Under supervision, maintain custody, security and order of incarcerated offenders. Enforce institutional policies, rules, procedures, and regulations. Escort offenders, guard facility entrances, handle/training canines, inventory equipment, maintain discipline, patrol areas, prepare reports, respond to emergencies, and transport offenders.

Responsibilities:

• Enforce institutional policies, rules, procedures and regulations.
• Enforce rules, regulations and state laws necessary for offender control and public safety.
• Escort offenders in transit and during temporary leaves.
• Guard facility entrances to screen visitors.
• Handle and train canines for tracking, search, rescue and detection of contraband.
• Inspect, inventory, maintain and log keys, tools, weapons, and related equipment.
• Maintain order, discipline and security within assigned areas.
• Observe offender conduct to prevent disturbances and escapes.
• Oversee offenders during work assignments, meals and recreation.
• Patrol assigned areas and report problems.
• Prepare admission, program, release, transfer and other reports.
• Respond to emergencies.
• Transport offenders to and from correctional facilities.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Training and experience meeting minimum standards of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST).
