JOB OPENING – Maintenance Mechanic
Part Time/ Full-time – Immediate hire

The Housing Authority of the City of Soperton (HACS) oversees the operation of 120 units of public housing at 4 sites in Soperton, GA. The Housing Authority of the City of Soperton is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is currently in need of 2 experienced and ambitious MAINTENANCE MECHANICS. These positions report to the Maintenance Supervisor and the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with all maintenance activities while remaining in compliance with all U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) rules and regulations.

In addition to following all Federal, State, and local laws, the qualified applicant must abide by all established Housing Authority policies and internal controls.

The successful candidate must be able to perform any routine maintenance in the apartments, as well as clean, paint and prepare vacant units for occupancy. The candidate may also perform general grounds keeping tasks as needed to maintain the clean, neat appearance of properties operated by the HACS.

The ideal candidate will also be responsible for performing a variety of structural, plumbing, electrical and building maintenance. The work involved includes repair and replacement of items such as windows, doors, gutters, cabinets, walls, ceilings, toilets, faucets, water lines, electrical outlets, and light fixtures. In addition, the individual will also perform all preventive maintenance tasks related to equipment, vehicles, etc.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter, be willing to learn, and be able to effectively work with a diverse group of people to achieve the desired outcomes. HVAC experience and certification is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to read and write in English plus some previous experience in building or apartment maintenance, or an equivalent combination of previous construction experience. Ability to effectively lift and load 60 pounds. All candidates must complete an application to be considered for the position.
