Location: Fort Benning
This position is located at the Aquatics Facilities which are a part of Fort Benning Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR).
Incentives and Bonuses- Incentives will not be paid.
This is an open-continuous announcement with bi-weekly cut-off starting on 22 January 2026. All applications will be reviewed and may be referred to management at that time.
Duties- Serves as the lead lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Performs lifeguarding duties and limited management functions.
- Ensures the safe operation of the pool, filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water test. Responsible for pool patrons safety/health in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility.
- Provides maximum surveillance of pool area and rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Attends aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Adheres to the Customer Service standards of the Installation.
- Keeps accurate records/reports and adequate supplies. Responsible for teaching aquatic swimming and water survival training according to TC 21-21, and assists with Shallow Water Egress Training (SWET or Dunker) if the equipment/program is available.
- Leads the work of other employees. Passes on to other workers instructions received from the supervisor and starts work. Distributes and balances work- load assuring that each employee has enough work to keep busy.
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.

- Position, duty hours, location and/or activity are subject to change based on mission requirements.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.
2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation. - Must have current health assessment which documents good physical health, freedom from communicable disease IAW current Army policy.
- Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
- Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
- May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
- Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
- Lead lifeguards must have good vision (corrected vision if necessary) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
- Conducts safety/health rule briefings to groups prior to use of the pool.
- In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
