Position: Food Security and Basic Needs Program Coordinator

Food Security and Basic Needs Program Coordinator

Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus – Full‑time position in the Student Life Office within the Student Affairs Division. Work schedule Monday‑Friday 8:30‑5:00 a.m., occasional evenings and weekends. Eligible for telework one day per week.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate food security programming and services.
  • Provide advocacy and outreach to educate the college community on food insecurity.
  • Organize workshops, events, and educational campaigns on nutrition, budgeting, and meal preparation.
  • Coordinate and manage food resources/inventory, ensuring a consistent supply of non‑perishable goods and fresh produce.
  • Network with local organizations and community partners to enhance resources and support for students.
  • Communicate with internal and external constituencies regarding food‑related initiatives.
  • Collaborate with local food banks and suppliers to secure donations and discounts for the college.
  • Provide guidance and support to students facing food insecurity, connecting them to internal and external resources and programs.
  • Develop and maintain accurate reporting data regarding program utilization and effectiveness, recommending enhancements to maximize program effectiveness and allocation of resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, psychology, nutrition, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience working with student support programs in higher education.
  • Experience in managing, coordinating, or developing food security programs or initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of local resources and community organizations related to food security.
  • Demonstrated experience in community organizing, program development, or food security initiatives.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, or experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted.
Licenses and Certifications

Valid Driver's License Required.

Hiring Range

$65,910–$85,671 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $105,432.
