Para educator Level III, Special Education (Autism), Roberto Clemente MS, 7 hrs/10 mos — Montgomery County Public Schools

Location:

Germantown, MD | Full-time | Day shift | 10 months

• At the direction of the principal, perform a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well-being to support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
• Assist students with needs related to academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical support.
• Attend to student personal care and medical needs and work with students that display physical and/or verbal aggression.
• Participate with students in learning activities, including those off school grounds when required.
• Facilitate student mastery of grade-level curriculum or Alternate Academic Achievement Standards in specialized instructional settings.
• Provide instructional and classroom management supports, and perform related clerical tasks to support teachers and other staff in all classrooms or learning environments.
• Follow required training and participate in ongoing development as part of the role.

• Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and applicable policies; ability to implement the instructional program and monitor appropriate student behavior.
• Ability to exhibit patience and work effectively with children, young adults, and staff; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; effective written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with standard computer software (Google Workspace, MS Office) and web-based instructional tools; ability to learn the seven core SSPGS competencies.
• Education/Experience (order of preference):
  1) Associate’s degree required;
  Bachelor’s degree preferred; acceptable combos include education-related coursework and experience; or 48 college credits plus two years of related structured setting experience; or two years of experience in a structured setting with Para Pro completion (score 455+); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
