Part‑time Faculty Biology Instructor
The Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, is currently accepting applications for part‑time faculty teaching Biology. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated teacher who exhibits professionalism, a strong commitment to students, and an ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and may be reviewed periodically based on student enrollment needs.
Duties and Responsibilities- Teach assigned lecture, discussion, and/or laboratory courses in biology.
- Plan and prepare instructional materials, develop course syllabi, write assignments and exams, and coordinate classroom instruction and related activities.
- Teach a varied schedule of courses that may include daytime, evening, weekend, and accelerated sessions, including summer sessions.
- Follow guidelines from department course coordinators to ensure consistent content coverage across multiple sections.
- Administer, grade, and provide timely feedback to monitor student mastery and progress.
- Submit student mid‑term and final grades by the college‑established deadlines.
- Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related major with relevant coursework.
- Ability to teach in a multicultural setting.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the community college philosophy and mission.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence, and willingness to contribute to the college’s strategic inclusion plan.
- Arrange access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location, or notify the department chair if none is available; the college may provide temporary access subject to available funds.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsor.
- Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or related field.
- Prior college‑level teaching experience in introductory biology courses.
- For degrees earned outside the U.S., submit a copy of the education equivalency report conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service.
- Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the college has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
- Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).
