Job SummaryUnder the direction of the school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students, creating an atmosphere conducive to their intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development to ensure success for every student. Supervises students in various school-related settings, monitors and evaluates outcomes, communicates with students, parents, staff, and community, develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials, maintains records and follows required procedures, monitors use of equipment, materials, and facilities.
Physical demands and special requirements: may be required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.
- Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students.
- Create a supportive atmosphere for intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.
- Supervise students in various school-related settings.
- Monitor and evaluate student outcomes.
- Communicate with students, parents, staff, and community.
- Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
- Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, MCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.
- Understanding of the teaching/learning process and ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
- Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and community.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
- Maryland state certification requirements met in the appropriate field of education.
