Job Description

The Environmental Business Line of AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist/Asbestos and Lead Inspector for immediate employment with the EHS Department in the Germantown, MD office.

The main responsibility of the successful candidate will be to perform hazardous building materials surveys (asbestos, lead paint, etc.) and prepare the associated survey reports, as well as perform abatement oversight. The candidate will perform the work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member. The position will require that the candidate be available to perform work in both the field and office and be able to travel out-of-town for durations ranging from one week to three months, as needed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct field studies and collect environmental samples for analysis
  • Perform data analysis and interpret results using statistical methods
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations on environmental findings
  • Utilize GIS software to create maps and analyze spatial data
  • Assist in environmental impact assessments and pollution control projects
  • Support the creation of environmental management plans and conservation strategies
  • Design and execute experiments to assess environmental quality and ecosystem health
  • Develop and maintain databases for environmental data management and analysis
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures for field and laboratory work
