AECOM is seeking a highly talented Structural Dam Safety Engineer to join the East Region Dams Practice. This position will support a variety Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region. The successful candidate will join the ENR consistently ranked #1 Dams and Reservoirs firm and have access to exciting career advancement opportunities. This position within our dedicated Dams Practice will report to one of the AECOM offices in the East Region including, but not limited to Atlanta, Georgia;
Buffalo, New York;
Charlotte, North Carolina;
Conshohocken, Pennsylvania;
Germantown, Maryland;
Franklin, Tennessee; or Tampa, Florida.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide technical support for projects including stability and strength analyses, structural design, Potential Failure Mode Analyses, Semi-Quantitative Risk Assessments, site inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of hydraulic structures.
- Prepare structural evaluation reports, drawings, and specifications for dam projects. Preparation of structural drawings and visual aids through coordination with CAD team.
- Prepare and perform quality reviews of other Engineer's work on deliverables such design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Develop engineering proposals and participate in client business development.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part time as needed.
- Assist and perform the roles of a Project Manager such as maintaining client relationships, contracting, project planning and execution, financial management, technical management, change management and project team management.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with demonstrated coursework in Structural Engineering.
- 4 years of experience in Structural Engineering.
- Experience with related software such as AutoCAD, Mathcad, and commercially available structural analysis software (STADD Pro, SAP
2000, Ansys, etc.). - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability and desire to occasionally travel to project sites, both local and remote. Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in at least one state with the ability to successfully apply for reciprocity in additional states or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire.
- Relevant experience with dams and other hydraulic structures, including rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
- Relevant experience conducting regular inspections and assessments to evaluate the condition and structural integrity of dams and other hydraulic structures.
- Proficient at reviewing pertinent dam information (geotechnical, hydraulic/hydrologic, structural, and construction)
