Entry-Level Structural Dam Safety Engineer

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Entry-Level Structural Dam Safety Engineer to join the East Region Dams Practice. This position will support a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region and report to the AECOM Germantown, MD office. The role is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for projects including stability and strength analyses, structural design, Potential Failure Mode Analyses, Semi-Quantitative Risk Assessments, site inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of hydraulic structures.
  • Prepare structural evaluation reports, drawings, and specifications for dam projects. Coordinate with CAD team to prepare structural drawings and visual aids.
  • Perform quality reviews of other Engineer's work on deliverables such as design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part time as needed.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with demonstrated coursework in Structural Engineering such as reinforced concrete design, statics, structural dynamics and mechanics of materials or equivalent education/experience.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
  • Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
  • Experience with related software such as AutoCAD, Mathcad, STADD Pro, SAP
    2000, Ansys, etc.
Additional Information
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Travel is required for this position.
Compensation

The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 per year.
