Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Dams Engineer to join the East Region Dams Team. This position will support a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region. The successful candidate will join the ENR consistently ranked #1 Dams and Reservoirs firm and have access to exciting career advancement opportunities. This position will report to one of the AECOM offices in the East Region including, but not limited to, Atlanta, Georgia;
Buffalo, New York;
Charlotte, North Carolina;
Conshohocken, Pennsylvania;
Franklin, Tennessee;
Germantown, Maryland;
Latham, New York; or Tampa, Florida.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to Project/Program Managers for projects including analyses, design, Potential Failure Mode Analyses, risk assessments, site inspections, construction observation and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of hydraulic structures.
  • Assist Project/Program Managers in maintaining client relationships, contracting, project planning and execution, financial management, technical management, change management and project team management including subcontractors.
  • Provide support to the successful delivery of dam engineering projects and programs including supporting business development and proposal preparation for new and existing clients.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules for delivering project success including the management of resources, budgets and risk.
  • Support the planning and management of field investigations for various hydraulic structures and embankments.
  • Communicate with multi‑disciplinary teams on various projects related to dams and other hydraulic structures.
  • Perform quality peer reviews of other Engineer's work on deliverables such as design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part time as needed.
  • Progression toward greater responsibility, including task and project management and certification as a professional engineer.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with demonstrated coursework in Geotechnical, Structural or Hydrology and Hydraulics Engineering + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to occasionally travel to project sites, both local and remote.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant area of study.
  • Experience with dams and other hydraulic structures, including rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
  • Certified Engineer‑In‑Training who is on track to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) exam license.
  • Strong desire to become a project manager and work towards completing the Managing AECOM Projects training to receive an AECOM Project Manager certification.
  • Experience in relevant software programs such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS applications, Geo Studio SLOPE/W and SEEP/W, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Mathcad, STADD Pro, Ansys, Microsoft Power BI and Project, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, or project management information systems (PMIS) such as Procore and e-Builder.
