Senior Calibration Technician

The role of the Sr. Electronic/ Metrology Technician is to perform the duties required to maintain the equipment under the control of the Quality department while maintaining full compliance to DRS established procedures.

• Provide technical support to engineers and scientist on a variety of complex components, devices, material, products, processes and/or equipment
• Work from complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications and sketches and running sheets of significant complexity
• Interpret and follow written documents such as SOPs and safety rules
• Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company in accordance with State and Federal regulations and any applicable certification required to maintain the certification
• Lead training new team members
• Interface with other departments to assure efficient flow of information and materials
• Perform Key Performance Indicators:
• Compliance outcomes
• Diagnose cause of electrical, optical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance
• Modify a variety of complex electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations
• Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
• Collect data and reviews documentation for conformance, accuracy and completeness Coordinates and/or inspects product for conformance to drawings and documentation
• Able to interpret and apply industry standards such as IPC 610, ANSI J-STD-001, etc
• Assist Quality Engineers with development of inspection plans, MRB investigations and process surveillance/audit activities; also,
• Calibration - consisting of data collection, coordinating and performing calibration activities, and assisting with verification of equipment and tooling status and improvement opportunities .

• Requires an associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in the field or in a related area .
• Experienced handling small delicate components, using ESD practices.
• Soldering and wire bonding experience a plus.
• Must be experienced in the safe handling of chemicals.
• Experienced in the use of various computer applications, including Access, Excel, and Labview.
• 5+ years of experience using electronic test equipment, test asset or metrology , calibrating Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE), & ISO 17025 accredited or compliant Metrology Lab.

Desired Characteristics:

• 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in the use of commercial calibration management software / database.
• Ability to disassemble, repair and reassemble fixtures, cables and other hardware used to test electronic products. Soldering skills / certifications (e.g. J-STD-001) are also desired.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and electronic products.
• Skills required for the operation, repair, modification, calibration, and maintenance of Automated Test Equipment (ATE’s) both commercial and internal built.
