Genomics Medical Laboratory Technician

Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Lab Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. The individual is responsible for monitoring routine quality assurance and quality control in the diagnostic high complexity laboratory. This position requires performing molecular laboratory tests such as Genetics testing, molecular infectious disease panels, Liquid Biopsy, pharmacogenomics test and other tests.

• Proven experience as Lab Technician or relevant position
• Maintaining laboratory status compliant with CLIA and CAP regulatory requirements.
• Excellent physical condition and endurance
• Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and database systems
• Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
• Monitoring records of QC, logs, laboratory SOP accuracy.
• Perform routine sample collection, accessioning, tracking, and storage of samples diligently.
• Implement the standard operating procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting of results to supervisors and record-keeping.
• Follow quality control policies; document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, reagent preparation and testing, and instrument maintenance performance per written protocols.
• Notify the supervisor of any deviation of test performance and equipment malfunction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Participate in weekly laboratory meetings, journal clubs, and seminars.

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, microbiology or clinical laboratory sciences of medical technology
• Valid laboratory technician license such as MT (ASAP) highly preferred
• 1–2-year experience in CLIA laboratory
• Previous experience with Illumina sequencing platforms
• Previous experience working with Illumina sequencing platforms, Thermofisher Quant Studio, and King Fisher Purification System.
