The core working hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, M-F. The hourly wage is $18.88.

This position is located at the Department of Energy in Germantown, MD.

• Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls, using clippers and edging tools.
• Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears.
• Rakes leaves and cleans or sweeps up litter using a spiked stick or broom.
• Shovels snow from walks and driveways.
• Spreads salt on public pathways.
• Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Waters lawns and shrubs during dry periods using a hose or sprinkler system.
• Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts with shovel and rake.
• May operate power equipment such as mowers, snow blowers, or roto tillers.
• May operate handheld power tools like chain saws and hedge trimmers.
• Performs various yard work duties after completing primary tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The incumbent must be able to stand/walk 70% and sit 30% of the time. Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull 100 pounds, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle materials and equipment. Good vision and color differentiation are required. Work is mainly outdoors in extreme weather conditions, dust, dirt, fumes, or debris.
