The Director of Cloud and Network Operations reports to the Senior Vice President of IT Operations and is responsible for the cloud technology management and network maintenance efforts for MAA. The role focuses on managing the efficiency, performance, and reliability of the company’s cloud and on‑premise infrastructure and ensuring best practices while maintaining connectivity across the portfolio of multifamily properties.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Partner with the IT team to assist with comprehensive optimization strategies for cloud and on‑premise infrastructure and determine areas for network performance improvement.
  • Manage the Cloud and Network Operations Team through goal setting, delegating work and projects, monitoring performance, and promoting professional growth.
  • Lead planning and execution of routine maintenance activities for cloud and on‑premise network systems, establishing and reviewing schedules to minimize disruptions.
  • Implement robust monitoring tools and practices to proactively identify and address performance issues, reviewing metrics and collaborating with the infrastructure team to optimize resource utilization.
  • Review system capacity to anticipate future needs and ensure scalability, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to plan and implement expansions.
  • Assist the Cybersecurity team with implementing and maintaining best practices.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud and network configurations, facilitating knowledge sharing.
  • Work with third‑party vendors providing managed and hosted services.
  • Assist with provisioning of end‑user services, including help desk and technical support.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field and 10 years of experience designing, optimizing, and maintaining cloud and network operations (or equivalent).
  • Supervisory/management experience supporting cloud and network operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cisco Certified Network Professional) strongly preferred.
  • Master’s degree in business or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud and network design, maintenance, and optimization principles and best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and networking technologies.
  • Knowledge of network security best practices, compliance and maintenance processes.
  • Ability to develop and execute optimization strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Leadership and management skills to coach, counsel, and foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and decision‑making skills.
  • Business and financial acumen.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Represents the physical demands necessary to perform essential functions.
  • Requires regular talking or hearing, standing, walking, using hands, reaching with arms, occasional lifting up to 20 lb.
  • Works in a professional office environment using standard office equipment.
