The OPERATING ROOM SCRUB/CIRCULATOR RN provides scrub/circulator nurse services in the operating room during surgical procedures and, as a member of the surgical team, assists as needed according to established procedures.

Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.

Current and unrestricted license in the state of practice.

At least one year of experience as a registered nurse in the operating room.

Current CPR at least to the BLS level; other health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and regulatory agencies.

Work in various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other infectious materials.

• Complies with ATC policies and client facility nursing policies.
• Conducts individualized patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on patient needs and condition.
• Conducts ongoing nursing assessments as dictated by patient condition and facility protocols.
• Collaborates with other team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
• Provides patient care in a non‑judgmental, non‑discriminatory manner, respecting cultural diversity and age appropriateness.
• Advocates patient rights regarding advance directives and organ donation.
• Assists the surgical team during operative procedures as required.
• Prepares the room with appropriate instruments, sutures, and supplies.
• Scrub nurse: preps and passes instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies, maintaining accurate counts.
• Circulator: secures and drops supplies onto the sterile field, maintains patient documentation.
• Assists in the maintenance and care of specimens.
• Ensures adequate supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
• Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel during each shift as needed.
• Maintains competency through continuing education and meets state‑specific requirements.
• Complies with professional standards and ethical conduct.
• Demonstrates effective delegation.
