Ceramic Pottery Teacher (Grades VI–X)

1. Job Purpose
The Ceramic Pottery Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate ceramic and pottery lessons for students of Grades VI to X. The role aims to nurture creativity, technical skills, and aesthetic appreciation while ensuring safe and effective use of tools and materials in alignment with the school’s visual arts curriculum.
2. Key
Roles & Responsibilities
A. Teaching & Learning
- Plan and conduct structured ceramic and pottery lessons for Grades VI–X.
- Demonstrate hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing, and firing techniques.
- Integrate theoretical concepts with practical applications.
B. Curriculum Implementation & Development
- Align lesson plans with CBSE/School visual arts guidelines.
- Develop progressive skill-based modules for different grade levels.
- Support interdisciplinary projects with the Visual Arts team.
C. Studio Management & Safety
- Maintain ceramic studio, tools, kiln, and materials.
- Ensure safety norms during practical sessions.
- Manage inventory and requisition of art supplies.
D. Student Development & Assessment
- Assess student work based on creativity, technique, and effort.
- Provide constructive feedback for improvement.
- Encourage participation in exhibitions, competitions, and school events.
E. Professional Collaboration
- Work closely with the HOD – Visual Arts and subject teachers.
- Participate in departmental meetings, trainings, and school activities.
- Support institutional needs and co-curricular initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts / Visual Arts / Applied Arts / Ceramics or related discipline.
- Diploma/Certification in Ceramic Art / Pottery (preferred).
- B.Ed. or Teacher Training Certification (desirable).
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in a school environment (Grades VI–X preferred).
- Proven experience in ceramic pottery instruction and studio practice.
- Experience in handling kilns, glazing processes, and material preparation.
Skills
- Strong technical expertise in hand-building, wheel throwing, glazing, and firing.
- Ability to design engaging, student-centered lesson plans.
- Classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and material handling.
- Basic digital skills for documentation and academic reporting.
