TJJD - Psychologist II-III for Forensic Services
Recruitment/Retention Bonus: $5,000 for external candidates only.
Job SummaryTexas Juvenile Justice Department seeks a licensed Psychologist II-III to provide clinical services, conduct assessments, supervise mental‑health staff, and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams at secure correctional facilities.
Responsibilities- Provide clinical supervisory activities, including group monitoring and direct trauma‑informed therapeutic services (individual, group, psycho educational, MDT interviews).
- Conduct trauma‑informed psychological evaluations, suicide risk assessments, and update MH/MI/Med and Administrative, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) documentation.
- Develop and maintain Behavior Management Plans and design transition‑planning interventions.
- Provide specialized consultation to MDT members on trauma‑informed assessments, treatment adaptations, and behavioral management.
- Contribute to in‑service trainings for staff (e.g., Stage Assessment, suicide prevention).
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor and comply with agency safety policies.
- Licensed psychologist with at least 2 years of experience in a juvenile justice or mental‑health setting.
- Experience in trauma‑informed care and forensic assessment.
- Strong clinical judgment, supervisory skills, and ability to work independently under limited supervision.
- Willingness to work >40 hr/wk, irregular shift patterns, on‑call, and occasional travel.
- Successful completion of Criminal Background Check and other minimum qualifications.
