Revenue & Billing Accountant

Gilbert, AZ (Phoenix metro candidates only)

Pay Ground is hiring a Revenue Accountant to own billing, accounts receivable, and revenue operations for our growing healthcare payments business. You'll report directly to the VP of Finance and work alongside our Accounting Manager.

This role is for someone who sees a messy process and wants to fix it. We're a lean team at a fast-growing company. There's no handbook for most of what you'll do, and you'll help write it. If you like clear structure and well-defined lanes, this probably isn't the right fit. If you like ownership, figuring things out, and seeing your work matter, this may be the perfect role for you.

In person Tuesday-Thursday for your first 3 months while you ramp up with the team. After that, the role is primarily remote, with a few in-person team meetups each month in the Gilbert area.

Billing and Accounts Receivable

• Create, validate, and send invoices, both manual and automated (with Dev support)
• Run pricing audits to ensure billing accuracy, and partner with Sales to make sure pricing is documented
• Verify client payments, follow up on open balances, and drive down aging
• Own the AR inbox and client billing communications
• Become the subject matter expert on our billing platform: build client and billing profiles, and lead the migration to our new tool

Revenue and Close

• Own revenue-related month-end close processes and reconciliations
• Prepare schedules and support for the annual audit
• Learn revenue recognition (ASC 606) hands-on, with direct training from the VP of Finance

Analysis and Operations

• Calculate margin by customer and other KPIs
• Calculate revenue share, affiliate commissions, and internal sales commissions
• Use AI tools and automation to find and fix inefficiencies in how we bill, collect, and report

We hire for drive and intelligence first. We'll teach you the technical side.

• Experience in billing, accounts receivable, or revenue accounting
• A self-starter who takes initiative without waiting to be told
• Curious about AI and eager to use it in your work. Bonus points if you've already used tools like Claude or ChatGPT to automate tasks, build workflows, or speed up analysis.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort learning new systems
• Clear communicator who works well across teams
• Thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment

• Experience in healthcare (medical billing, practice management, revenue cycle), payments (merchant services, processing fees, interchange), or SaaS
• Exposure to subscription or usage-based billing

• Base salary: $60,000 to $80,000, depending on experience. Senior level available for candidates with deeper experience.
