Accounting Manager, Financial Compliance, Financial Controller, Financial Reporting
LHH is partnering with an established manufacturing organization in Gilbert, Arizona that is looking to add an Assistant Controller to its accounting leadership team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being more than a reviewer. We’re looking for a hands‑on accounting leader who understands manufacturing, knows full‑cycle accounting, and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves while developing a team.
You’ll have the opportunity to make a visible impact on the accounting function by strengthening processes, building SOPs, improving controls, and coaching a developing accounting team.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and help drive an accurate, timely month-end close
- Manage full-cycle accounting activities, including general ledger, AP/AR, inventory, fixed assets, payroll, and financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff while providing hands‑on training
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business decision‑making
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and standard operating procedures
- Support annual audits, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting
- Maintain accurate fixed asset and depreciation schedules
- Identify opportunities to make accounting processes more efficient and scalable
- Work cross‑functionally with operations and other departments to improve financial visibility
- Help bring additional structure and consistency to a growing, evolving accounting environment
Must-haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Manufacturing accounting experience
- Prior supervisory or management experience
- Strong understanding of full‑cycle accounting and GAAP
- Experience with inventory and fixed asset accounting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to operate effectively in an environment that is still building and refining processes
- A hands‑on leadership style with a genuine interest in teaching, coaching, and developing people
- CPA or Master’s degree
- Power BI or similar reporting/analytics experience
- Payroll and/or 401(k) administration exposure
- International, multi‑entity, or foreign currency exposure
- Experience improving ERP‑driven accounting processes
This isn't a role where you'll be limited to one narrow piece of accounting. You'll have exposure across the organization and the ability to put your stamp on the accounting function.
You can expect:- Approximately 3 weeks of paid time off
- Career growth and advancement potential
- Broad exposure across accounting, finance, and operations
- An opportunity to build processes instead of simply inheriting them
- A leadership team that values a hands‑on, collaborative accounting partner
- The ability to see the tangible impact of your work
If you're a manufacturing accounting professional who likes the combination of technical accounting, leadership, process improvement, and getting into the details, this could be an excellent next step.
