After School
Lead our most popular program, 3D Printing & Design, starting with fall after-school classes in the Kyrene district and growing into break camps, Nerding HQ classes, and the rest of our tech lineup.
around $40/hr (varies by season and program) Kyrene schools (Chandler and Tempe) + Nerding HQ in Gilbert, AZ
Nerding is a founder-owned STEM enrichment program in the East Valley. We teach project-based classes (the build-something kind, not the worksheet kind) to kids in grades 1-9 through summer camps, after-school programs at 30+ schools, break camps, and our new Nerding Headquarters on the Eduprize campus in Gilbert. Our curriculum is written in-house by a certified teacher with 20+ years in the classroom, and the founders are still the ones at camp, on the phone, and in the room.
Thejob
You will lead our 3D Printing & Design classes, our #1 most popular program, and grow into the rest of our tech lineup. A typical class: a room full of 9-to-14-year-olds in Tinkercad, designing things they cannot wait to hold, while you keep the printers humming and the chaos productive.
You would start by training alongside Niecy (our co-founder and lead teacher) on the fall after-school 3D printing classes in the Kyrene school district, transitioning into the lead teaching role over the first six weeks. From there, the schedule grows with us: fall break camps in October, new classes at Nerding HQ (after-school, weekends, homeschool daytime programs), and eventually laser engraving and cutting, VR, graphic design, Minecraft, and whatever we nerd out on next.
Youmight be our person if you
- Pick up new tech fast and actually enjoy it. New software, new gadgets, new firmware update that broke everything, bring it on.
- Have real classroom management chops. You can run a room of excited kids with warmth and structure.
- Have a teacher's mind and a teacher's heart. You love the moment a kid gets it.
- Love working with kids ages 9 and up (and maybe adults someday, we are expanding).
- Bonus points:
you own a 3D printer, you have sliced a model, you have un-clogged a nozzle, you know Tinkercad, Canva, a Cricut, or a heat press. - Not required: any specific certification. We care way more about how fast you learn and how well you teach than what is framed on your wall.
This is a part-time hourly role, not (yet) a full-time salary. What we can promise: a schedule that grows every season, founders who iterate fast, first crack at new programs as we expand, and a company where "I have an idea" gets a real answer. We are building our year-round headquarters right now, and this role grows with it.
Nerding is an equal opportunity employer. Employment is contingent on an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (or eligibility to obtain one) for work on school campuses.
Schedule, current and upcoming- Late August through the fall semester: After-school 3D Printing & Design classes at Kyrene schools (Chandler and Tempe area), weekday afternoons. Train with Niecy, take the lead within six weeks.
- October: Fall break camp weeks (daytime).
- Fall onward: New classes at Nerding HQ in Gilbert, including after-school, weekends, and daytime homeschool sessions, scheduled with your availability in the mix.
