Job Brief

Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring a Senior Test Engineer for our client. This job is responsible for developing EGSE test hardware, selecting COTS instruments, designing custom test boxes and cabling, creating LabVIEW VIs for instrument control and UUT command / telemetry, developing Python or PERL scripts for automated testing, supporting VxWorks and FPGA-related test integration, and producing all required documentation including schematics, assembly details, test plans, and ATPs, ensuring full verification of UUT capabilities and compliance with contractual requirements.

a Typical Day Like?
  • Design, develop, and maintain Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) hardware for testing Units Under Test (UUT).
  • Select and integrate COTS test instruments, design custom test boxes, and develop or specify cabling.
  • Ensure test hardware can validate all required capabilities and contractual design requirements of the UUT.
  • Embedded Single Board Computers (SBCs)
  • Custom analog / digital I / O boards for Command & Data Handling (C&DH) on cPCI
  • Electrical Power System (EPS) boards for power switching, solar array control, and battery charging
  • Custom backplane extensions
  • Create LabVIEW VIs for COTS instrument control, monitoring, and UUT user interfaces (command & telemetry).
  • Develop Python or PERL scripts to execute and automate LabVIEW and VxWorks-based tests.
  • Integrate with VxWorks test code for interactions with C code on SBCs (desired but not required).
  • Support FPGA-related testing and integration through familiarity with VHDL (desired).
  • Create and maintain assembly drawings, schematics, and parts lists for custom test equipment using the company documentation system.
  • Use tools such as Microsoft Visio, Excel, and Intercept Mozaix for hardware documentation.
  • Develop formal Integration & Test Plans, Environmental Test Plans, and Acceptance Test Procedures.
  • Produce customer deliverables documenting compliance with all design and contractual requirements.
  • Take ownership of assignments, drive tasks to completion, and support cross-functional engineering efforts.
  • Assist and mentor junior engineers in hardware / software development, debugging, and test execution.
  • Support teamwork across hardware, software, and systems engineering groups.
What Are the Requirements of the Job?
  • BS in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 7–10 years of directly related engineering / testing experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following : C, LabVIEW, Python, or PERL.
  • Experience with hardware design and development.
  • Ability to create cable drawings and familiarity with cabling concepts.
  • Knowledge of Windows applications including Visio, Word, and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with test automation, instrumentation, and embedded system integration.
  • Familiarity with VxWorks and VHDL is desirable.
  • Strong documentation capability and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, ownership-driven, and able to work independently.
  • Effective communication and teamwork mindset.
  • Willingness to support and mentor junior engineers.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
  • Ability to utilize hand / eye coordination.
  • Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Communication skills.
