This is an onsite position using a 9/80 work schedule. Mon-Thu - 7:30am___5:00pm, Fri - 7:30 AM to 4 PM.
Role Overview
Our Space & Defense Group develops high-reliability avionics, embedded computing, payload electronics, power distribution, and spacecraft systems for NASA, civil space, and defense missions.
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer - a recognized technical leader with a proven record of designing power elements (DC/DC, Motor Control, power switches) for circuit cards for demanding aerospace applications. This role is ideal for a top-tier power design professional who combines deep technical expertise, speed and rigor in execution, and uncompromising attention to detail to deliver world-class, error-free designs that perform reliably in mission-critical environments.
WhatYou'll Do
- Architect and design high-reliability power electronics including DC-DC converters and related subsystems such as inverters, motor drives, or battery-management systems.
- Perform circuit design, simulation, component selection, schematic capture, and guide PCB layout, thermal, and EMI/EMC considerations.
- Lead hardware bring-up, integration, debug, verification, and qualification activities.
- Develop and review specifications, design reviews, test plans, and verification documentation.
- Solve complex technical issues using structured root-cause analysis.
- Provide technical mentorship and design guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ensure designs meet aerospace and defense reliability, environmental, and performance requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- 8+ years designing power electronics for aerospace, defense, industrial, or other high-reliability applications.
- Strong experience designing DC-DC power converters or closely related power conversion circuits.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (Cadence Allegro, Altium, or similar).
- Experience using simulation tools such as SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, Mathcad, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of power semiconductor devices. MOSFET experience required; IGBT, SiC, and GaN experience is beneficial.
- Experience supporting hardware through the full product lifecycle from architecture through qualification and production.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
- Experience developing electronics for harsh-environment or space applications.
- Experience with radiation-tolerant or radiation-hardened electronics.
- Experience with motor control, reliability analysis (FMEA/MTBF), or system integration.
Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design reviews
