Summary

We are seeking a temporary Benefits Consultant to support critical year‑end and early‑year benefits activities, with a primary focus on ACA reporting (Forms 1094/1095) and benefits data reconciliation across multiple benefit lines and systems. This role will play a hands‑on execution and design role—owning reporting deliverables while also building repeatable processes, documentation, and training materials so this work can be successfully transitioned to internal teams in future cycles.

Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation, review, and filing of Forms 1094-C and 1095-C, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Partner with Payroll, HRIS, and benefit vendors to validate eligibility, coverage, and affordability data.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies impacting ACA reporting.
  • Design and execute a benefits reconciliation process across medical, dental, vision, and other benefit plans.
  • Reconcile enrollments, deductions, eligibility, and vendor invoices across systems.
  • Identify gaps, root causes, and recurring issues; recommend corrective actions.
  • Build clear SOPs and documentation for benefits audits, reconciliation processes, ACA reporting workflows, and ongoing benefits administration checkpoints.
  • Develop training materials and walkthroughs for internal HR, People Ops, or Payroll staff.
  • Lead knowledge‑transfer sessions to ensure internal teams can independently run audits and reporting in the future.
  • Provide ad‑hoc support for benefits‑related activities as needed, such as enrollments, data cleanup, vendor coordination, or reporting requests.
  • Partner cross‑functionally to support operational improvements within benefits administration.
Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with ACA reporting (1094/1095) in an employer environment.
  • Strong understanding of benefits administration and eligibility rules.
  • Proven experience building reconciliation or audit processes involving HRIS, payroll, and benefits data.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large, imperfect datasets.
  • Ability to translate complex processes into clear documentation and SOPs.
  • Hands‑on experience preparing, validating, and filing ACA reports in an employer setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute benefit reconciliation and audit processes across HRIS, payroll, and vendor systems.
  • Proficiency working with large data sets using Excel, including identifying discrepancies and resolving data issues.
  • Experience creating clear, repeatable SOPs, documentation, and training materials for operational handoffs.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration, HR operations, or related HR discipline.
  • Preferred experience with multi‑state benefits administration and HR/payroll platforms (Paycom or similar).
  • Experience training or enabling internal teams through documentation and live sessions.
  • Consulting or project‑based experience.
  • Experience working in a multi‑state or multi‑entity environment.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems such as Paycom, Workday, ADP, UKG, or similar.
