- Registered Nurse role at Advanced Spine And Pain (ASAP)
The RN will provide safe, quality patient care in Ambulatory Surgical Center and Clinic Environment. Accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.
Responsibilities- Assess patient status on admission to the preop area, operating room and/or post-op area.
- Provide safe, therapeutic quality care utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnoses in a timely manner.
- Coordinate nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and ensure readiness for discharge.
- Document interventions and patient responses.
- Communicate appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information.
- Safely carry out physician orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities.
- Initiate and participate in patient and family education.
- Administer IV conscious sedation, count narcotics, and maintain competence in conscious sedation administration and monitoring.
- Protect sedated and anesthetized patients by identifying safety hazards and ensuring privacy and body temperature.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; current Arizona State R.N. License.
- BSN preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years professional nursing experience.
- Clinic, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and pain experience is preferred.
- IV Sedation experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Creative and innovative problem‑solving approach.
- Stable and capable of performing in emergency situations, making immediate decisions and setting priorities.
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications; must be renewed within 30 days of expiration date.
- General nursing care to patients in the clinic and ASC; administer medications per standing orders.
- Maintain exam rooms, preoperative, operative, and postoperative supplies and materials.
- Prepare equipment and assist physician during treatment and examination of patients.
- Thorough knowledge of aseptic technique.
- Trained, supervised and able to start IVs using aseptic technique.
- Observe, record and report changes in patient’s medical condition; educate patient/family about procedures and medications.
- Ensure patients presenting a change in medical condition are given immediate attention and priority.
- Maintain/review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information; ensure pre‑op phone calls are made to patients and they fully meet protocol for scheduled procedure.
- Respond to/refers incoming patient treatment‑related phone calls; instruct patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Monitor patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise and professionalism when responding to emergency situations.
- Maintain privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of patient and organizational data.
