Job Summary

A circulating nurse operates as a go-between for the operating room staff and the rest of the surgery center. The circulating nurse is not scrubbed in. They perform the initial assessment of the patient as he/she is wheeled into the operating room and make sure that the patient is comfortable. The circulating nurse also assists the surgeon and scrub nurse as they clean up and prepare for the surgery.

During the surgery, circulating nurses hand packages of supplies to the scrub nurse as necessary. If something is required from outside the room, or if the surgeon needs a message passed on to another staff or family member, it falls to the circulating nurse. After the surgery, the circulating nurse counts opened packages and used supplies, ensuring there are no supplies accidentally left inside the patient.

They are a vital member of the surgical team ensuring patient safety.

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing and hold a current unrestricted license to practice in the State of Arizona.
• Current American Heart ACLS and PALS certification required.
• Minimum 2+ years experience working as a circulator required.
• BSN preferred.

• Monday to Friday work schedule.
• Off on holidays and weekends.
• No call required.
