Assistant Grocery Manager

• Assist the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
• Order and control inventory, maintain product quality, and supervise the Grocery team.
• Coordinate merchandising and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
• Lead a team that brainstorms to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest experience for customers.
• Help hire, teach, train, and develop the Grocery team.
• Unload and sort through store deliveries.
• Ensure all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines are executed and that other team members are aware of and follow these procedures.

• Minimum 18 years of age and 1–3 years of retail management experience. Familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets preferred.
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business requires, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Walking up to 3 miles per 8 hours is expected.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to give and receive direction in a team environment.
• Outgoing, friendly, and positive attitude with the ability to interact with customers.
• Proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff, combined with knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• Detail oriented, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong organization and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Physical ability to vertically transfer milk trays up to 60 lbs., from 9’’ to 62’’ for up to 25 hours; vertically/horizontally transfer boxes up to 50 lbs., from 5’’ to 34’’ for up to 5 feet for up to 25 hours; repetitive squatting, kneeling, bending to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours is expected.
