Are you a patient, resilient, and empathetic individual with a passion for supporting young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)?
New Directions are providing experienced Teaching Assistants to multiple schools in the Caerphilly borough. The role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils who require additional support to access their education.
About the RoleAs an ALN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional learning needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their development and wellbeing
- Assist in managing behaviour and promoting positive engagement strategies
- Support students to access learning activities and stay focused
- Work closely with teachers and ALNCOs
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with ALN, behavioural needs, or additional support needs (desirable but not essential)
- Be calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations
- Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Be able to set clear boundaries while remaining supportive and understanding
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children
- Be adaptable and open to learning new strategies and approaches
- Must be available to work between the hours of 8.30am and 3.30pm and available for a minimum of 3 days a week.
