Working under the supervision of the Childcare Manager, the Childcare Cook prepares and serves food for children according to the highest quality of department standards. Functions as part of the Nutrition Services and Childcare teams by preparing, portioning, and delivering food to children, cleaning equipment and kitchen, ordering staple food and supplies, maintaining sanitation and food safety standards, and completing required documentation and financial reports.
EssentialFunctions
- Applies appropriate “Wyoming Child and Adult Care Food Program” guidelines when preparing and serving children meals and snacks. Uses accepted food safety techniques in the preparation, holding, and storage of all food items. Cleans tableware, equipment, and the kitchen to maintain sanitary standards. Completes documentation as required.
- Uses all large and small food service equipment including refrigeration units according to department procedures. Includes equipment to transport food and supplies to childcare facility.
- Assists childcare staff in observing special dietary needs of children due to food allergies.
- Maintains inventory of food and supplies based on menu.
- Actively prepares for and participates in all regulatory inspections/surveys.
- Complies with the hospital/long term care Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures and promotion of patient/resident rights including confidentiality.
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
