Lease Operator

Join Wood as a Lease Operator in Gillette, Wyoming, supporting field operations on the Powder River Basin project. Wood offers health, dental, vision, 401k, PTO, life insurance, and more.

• Monitor control panels to ensure materials are pumped at correct pressure, density, rate, and concentration
• Operate engines and pumps to shut off wells according to production schedules, and to switch flow of oil into storage tanks
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment
• Repair gas and oil meters and gauges
• Unload and assemble pipes and pumping equipment, using hand tools
• Attach pumps and hoses to wellheads
• Start compressor engines and divert oil from storage tanks into compressor units and auxiliary equipment to recover natural gas from oil
• Open valves to return compressed gas to bottoms of specified wells to re-pressurize them and force oil to surface
• Supervise oil pumpers and other workers engaged in producing oil from wells

• Always wore appropriate PPE (FRC, hard hat, steel-toed shoes/boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection)
• Drive appropriately for conditions, always wear seat belt, do not use phones while operating a vehicle
• Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures when opening any piping or working on equipment including electronics
• Follow call-out procedures when on call
• Ensure contract workers in your area are wearing PPE and working in a safe manner. Implement stop work authority as needed
• Report environmental spills immediately and erode as it is found
• Routinely check and maintain all mechanical equipment (ATVs, water pumps, maxi heaters, etc.)
• Other responsibilities as assigned
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Ability to understand gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is working properly
• Ability to perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment
• Ability to identify and fix most issues with limited or no direction
• Must have a good driving record and a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to pass the pre-employment drug screen and background check
