Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring a WY or compact RN license and recent Med/Surg background.
Responsibilities- Work on a 16-32 room Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes all ages from early infancy through end of life
- Care for medical, surgical, orthopedic, neuro, bariatric, detox (alcohol), end-of-life, and some chemotherapy cases
- Nurse to patient ratio is typically 4-5:1
- Uses Pyxis medication system, Meditech EMR, Med scanning, and a variety of pumps and medical equipment
- 12-hour rotating shifts requiring both day and night coverage, including weekends
- No floating required for travelers
- Straight night shifts may be considered
- Care for a wide range of patient conditions not typically seen on urban Med/Surg floors due to the rural environment
- Will occasionally care for chemotherapy patients but will not float to the chemo area
- Orientation includes 8 hours with a unit educator covering competencies and unit expectations, plus 30 hours of precept training
- Dress code requires navy blue scrubs
- No on-call responsibilities for this role
- Active WY or compact RN license
- Minimum 6 months recent Med/Surg experience
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and Chemotherapy certifications are preferred
