We have a requirement for a:
Workshop Operative working in our Fabrication Department at the Gillingham site (39 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 8am to 430pm/Friday 8am to 330pm)
Key responsibilities- Assist the Workshop Section Leader in the day-to-day tasks of the fabrication department, ensuring production schedules are achieved safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
- Operate a range of fabrication equipment and machinery, including press brakes, guillotines, rollers and other workshop machinery (where trained and authorised).
- Prepare, cut, form and assemble metal components in accordance with engineering drawings and production specifications.
- Carry out general workshop duties including drilling, deburring, grinding and finishing fabricated parts.
- Support the loading, unloading and movement of materials and finished products within the workshop using appropriate manual handling techniques and lifting equipment.
- Ensure all products are manufactured to the required quality standards and report any defects or non- conformances promptly.
- Perform routine equipment checks and maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Comply with all Health & Safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work, ensuring the correct use of PPE at all times.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across production and warehouse functions to meet customer delivery deadlines.
- Be flexible in supporting other areas of the manufacturing operation as business needs dictate.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and safety.
- Experience of working in a metal workshop environment
- And ideally experience of operating machine tools - press brake, guillotine and rollers etc
