MIG Welder

Role Overview An opportunity for an experienced Welder to join a busy engineering and fabrication environment. The role involves working from engineering drawings and specifications, preparing materials, setting up welding equipment, welding fabricated components and checking finished work to ensure high standards of quality and accuracy. Salary £20.00 per hour Working Hours Monday Thursday: 7:00am3:00pm Friday: 7:00am12:30pm 36.5 hours per week Overtime available at 1.5x Sunday overtime at 2x Benefits 10% employer pension contribution 5% employee pension contribution £40,000 life insurance 25 days holiday  bank holidays

Key Responsibilities Read and interpret engineering drawings, job packs and specifications. Set up and safely operate welding equipment, tools and related machinery. Carry out welding to the required quality standard, including MIG/MAG and other welding processes as required. Prepare, align and tack-weld materials and components. Check completed work for accuracy, quality and compliance with drawings and specifications. Safely use overhead cranes, lifting equipment and mechanical handling equipment where trained and authorised.

Report defects, drawing issues, material concerns or production problems to the line manager. Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment. Follow all safety procedures, quality standards and company processes. Identify and support practical improvements to working methods. Health & Safety Work safely at all times to protect yourself and others. Report accidents, hazards and near misses. Move materials safely using the correct mechanical lifting methods.

Wear the appropriate PPE and ensure it is maintained in good condition. Follow all Health & Safety procedures and policies. Knowledge & Skills Previous experience working as a Welder within a fabrication, engineering or heavy manufacturing environment. Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and specifications. Good practical welding, fabrication, measuring and preparation skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Understanding of safe lifting, material handling and fabrication equipment. Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.
