Dental Assistant

The Dental Assistant supports dentists during dental procedures by preparing patients, ensuring comfort, and facilitating efficient treatment processes. The role also involves maintaining the dental operatory, managing supplies, assisting with administrative tasks, and adhering to safety and infection control protocols.

Key Responsibilitie
s:

• Assist dentists during procedures by preparing patients and dental materials such as cements, impressions, and temporary crowns.
• Collect and document patient histories to help tailor individualized care.
• Perform sterilization and prepare operatories according to infection control guidelines.
• Coordinate dental department operations including clinic flow, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
• Work collaboratively with the Dental Receptionist and fill in for front desk functions as needed.
• Inventory and order dental materials and supplies with approval.
• Perform all Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) duties as directed by the Dental Director, including specialized tasks if certified (e.g., sealants).
• Follow OSHA requirements, especially related to infection control and hazardous waste management.
• Maintain operatories in compliance with Bloodborne Pathogens Policy.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date dental charts and records.
• Participate in department safety meetings and adhere to all Policies and Procedures.
• Ensure punctuality and preparedness for dental procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dental Director.

• Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• X-Ray license preferred.
• Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.

• X-Ray license preferred but not mandatory.
