Environmental Services Director

Directs environmental services at the facility to ensure clean, safe, orderly, and attractive conditions of establishment by performing the following duties.

• Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping, laundry and maintenance staff.
• Develops, evaluates, implements, and revises polices and procedures for department that maximize the control and prevention of infections.
• Plans, develops, and implements in-service education programs.
• Plans work schedules and assigns work to staff to ensure adequate service and coverage.
• Conducts staff meetings to discuss new or modified procedures within department.
• Plans, prepares, and administers annual department budget.
• Researches and selects equipment and supplies for department.
• Coordinates activities of department with other departments within facility.
• Plans and arranges for conference, luncheon, banquet, and meeting setups.
• Serves on various committees.

• Inspects and evaluates physical and sanitation conditions of facility.
• Makes recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space.
• Periodically inventories supplies and equipment.
• Investigates new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.

Maintain the confidentiality of all residents, staff and organization information.

• Directly supervises employees in the Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• Associate's degree (A.
  
  A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must have experience in plumbing, electrical, building projects and general building maintenance.
