/ Duties of Position

Elevate Your Career as the Pediatric Cath Lab Medical Director at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital!

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist to serve as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory as part of our succession planning. This role combines hands-on interventional care for children with congenital and acquired heart disease with strategic and operational leadership of the cath lab. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in clinical practice, a commitment to innovation and quality improvement, and the ability to lead a multidisciplinary team in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality cardiovascular care.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures in pediatric patients, from neonates to adults.
  • Collaborate closely with pediatric cardiologists, adult congenital cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, intensivists, and other specialists to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Participate in inpatient and outpatient care, including pre- and post-procedural evaluations.
  • Contribute to the education of fellows, residents, and medical students.

Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities (Medical Director Role):

  • Provide leadership and direction for the operations of the Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
  • Oversee and improve clinical quality, patient safety, procedural efficiency, and staff performance in the cath lab.
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols, safety checklists, and quality metrics in alignment with national standards.
  • Lead morbidity and mortality reviews, case conferences, and peer review activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies, institutional policies, and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership on capital planning, equipment acquisition, and program development.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, research, and innovation.
Required Qualifications
  • MD or DO with board certification in Pediatric Cardiology.
  • Advanced fellowship training in Pediatric Interventional Cardiology.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the applicable state.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric and adult congenital interventional procedures.
  • Experience with advanced interventions such as transcatheter valve implantation and hybrid procedures.
  • Track record in clinical research, quality improvement, or program development.
