Responsibilities

The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals and objectives of OHSU and the School of Medicine and include: drive and participate in the research mission of the university, as applied to patients with CML, Leukemia
, myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN)/myelodysplatic syndrome (MDS), participate in the education of medical students and house staff in accordance with assignments to the department by the Curriculum Committee and Chair;
The individual in this position will be a member of the Center for Hematologic Malignancies, a section of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine. The duties of this position support the mission, goals and objectives of OHSU and the University Hospitals and Clinics.

The faculty member will join the myeloid malignancy team with the goal of expanding the basic, translational, and clinical research programs. Responsibilities to include: laboratory and/or clinical investigations of CML, management of patients with CML, and myeloproliferative disease in the outpatient setting; attending on the inpatient hematologic malignancy service with an emphasis on treating patients with leukemia; shared responsibility for on-call coverage;

case conferencing with multi-disciplinary teams; coordination of teaching rounds with Fellows and House-staff assigned to the inpatient or outpatient service; growing the CML clinical and research programs; fostering collaborative relationships with referring physicians and organizations; medical direction to CHM Data Managers and Nurse Coordinators’ experience and expertise in the establishment and maintenance of comprehensive CHM databases; development and participation in clinical trials;

participating in administrative committees and councils of the OHSU as approved by the Chair and Division Head; engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with knowledge and consent of the Chair and Division Head.

It is anticipated your job will be made up of the following components:
Research, Clinical, Teaching, and Service.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • MD OR MD/PhD
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine
  • Board eligible/certified in Hematology and/or oncology
Preferred Qualifications

Proven success working with multi-disciplinary teams, history of training focused on the care of leukemia patients, conducting research in hematologic malignancies, and success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and/or basic science research.
