Full-Time Mechanical Design/Mfg Engineer I
Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making design decisions and/or modifications. Provide manufacturing engineering support to operations.
ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Analyze and design complex parts and assemblies to applicable standards.
- Provide technical data and assist in the decision‑making process that impacts compliance with design specifications.
- Assist in design, analysis of design, testing of design, and qualification of the design for production and sale to the public.
- Participate on project teams.
- Create documents related to the design engineering function (i.e., layout drawings, detail drawings, assembly drawings, Bills of Materials, Engineering Change Orders, and design records).
- Create documentation required to ensure the product can be produced as designed.
- Identify and develop processes for engineering efficiencies (Change Order process, Special process, etc.).
- Provide sales support by analyzing architectural layouts for special products. Design, develop, and cost the special product.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
- Develop and improve mechanical design processes for better efficiency.
- Identify improvement opportunities and lead the implementation of process improvements to reduce cost, improve changeover, increase quality, and repeatability.
- Design tools and fixturing to improve the workpiece holding capability for assembly and machining processes.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is preferred. 2+ years of experience in a design engineering role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPETENCY/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with 2D design software, AutoCAD preferred
- Ability to perform 3D Modeling
- Ability to read Bills of Materials
- Ability to multitask and problem solve
- Ability to analyze and interpret data
- Ability to prepare Test protocols and Test Reports
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and PLM systems
- Knowledge of FDA and ISO regulations
