Anderson Knight Recruitment is delighted to be working with one of our key clients, a well-established and highly respected accountancy practice based in Glasgow. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Officer to join their busy and supportive payroll team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with previous accountancy practice experience who is looking to join a firm with a strong reputation and a diverse client portfolio. Working alongside the Payroll Manager and Payroll Assistant, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients and ensuring payroll services are delivered accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Managing a portfolio of payroll clients across a variety of sectors
- Processing weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly, and monthly payrolls from start to finish
- Calculating statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, and other payroll-related entitlements
- Submitting RTI reports to HMRC and ensuring compliance with payroll legislation
- Managing pension auto-enrolment duties and pension submissions
- Processing new starters, leavers, and payroll amendments
- Handling client payroll queries and providing a high level of customer service
- Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring deadlines are consistently met
- Liaising with HMRC and pension providers where required
- Assisting with year-end payroll processes including P60s and P11
Ds where applicable - Supporting the Payroll Manager with ad hoc projects and process improvements
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice payroll environment is essential
- Experience using Bright Pay is highly desirable
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with clients
- Experience managing your own payroll client portfolio
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider payroll team
