PQ Accountant

Anderson Knight is delighted to be partnering with a well‑established and growing haulage business in Glasgow to recruit a Part‑Qualified Financial Accountant.

This role will suit someone who enjoys producing accurate financial information, has a strong eye for detail, and is looking for a position that offers genuine exposure and long‑term career progression.

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management and financial accounts.
• Support the month‑end and year‑end close process, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
• Assist with the production of statutory accounts and support the annual external audit process.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC reporting requirements.
• Support cash flow reporting and treasury activities.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and process asset additions, disposals and depreciation.
• Produce financial reports and analysis to support business performance and operational decision‑making.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting alongside the wider finance team.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and strengthen internal controls.
• Build strong working relationships with operational departments to provide financial support and insight.

• Part‑qualified ACCA, CIMA with a clear commitment to completing your professional qualification.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and month‑end processes.
• Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting financial reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• A proactive team player with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
• Previous experience within transport, logistics, manufacturing or another operational business would be beneficial but is not essential.
