Senior Accounts Assistant

The Role

Working closely with a varied portfolio of SME clients, you will play a key role in supporting the preparation of management and financial information while building strong client relationships.

• Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts
• Drafting year-end accounts for review
• Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance deadlines are met
• Processing and reviewing bookkeeping records
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Assisting with budgeting and forecasting exercises
• Producing financial reports and analysis for clients
• Liaising directly with clients to answer finance-related queries
• Supporting junior team members where required
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies
• Working collaboratively with managers and partners across the practice

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
• Experience preparing management accounts
• Strong bookkeeping and reconciliations experience
• Good understanding of VAT and financial reporting processes
• Studying towards an accounting qualification or Qualified by Experience (QBE)
• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with clients
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Proficient in cloud-based accounting software and Microsoft Excel

• Salary up to £45,000 DOE
