Trainee Accountant

Robert Half is delighted to be working with a growing independent accountancy firm in Edinburgh who look to add a new Trainee Accountant to their tight knit team. As a Trainee Accountant, you'll play a key supporting role within the client services team, helping to deliver accurate and timely financial information. You'll assist with core compliance tasks, contribute to the smooth running of client accounts, and gain exposure to a wide range of accounting processes.

You'll work closely with senior team members and have the opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. Suitable applicants must have prior experience of working within an accountancy practice setting. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Assisting in the preparation of year-end accounts using IRIS Supporting the completion of corporation tax and self-assessment returns Preparing VAT returns and reviewing data for accuracy Responding to client queries in a timely and professional manner Assisting with bookkeeping and management accounts preparation Maintaining Xero certification and supporting clients with cloud software queries Ensuring compliance with AML procedures under supervision Contributing to internal process improvements and team initiatives Supporting ad hoc tasks and projects as directed by senior staff or directors About You We're looking for someone who's enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within a practice environment.

You'll enjoy working with clients and colleagues alike, and bring a proactive, can-do attitude to your work. You'll ideally be:
Part-qualified (ACCA/ICAS/ACA) or actively studying Familiar with preparing accounts and tax returns within a practice setting (essential) Comfortable using cloud accounting software (Xero experience preferred) Organised and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently A good communicator with a client-focused mindset Keen to learn and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement What's on Offer Competitive salary between £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience Hybrid working model with flexibility around office/home balance Supportive and inclusive team culture Exposure to a varied and interesting client base The salary range/rates of pay is dependent upon your experience, qualifications or training .
