Senior Management Accountant

We are working with an established and successful manufacturing business based in Haverhill who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified or part-qualified accountant who enjoys working closely with the wider business and wants to play an important role in maintaining robust financial controls, supporting month-end reporting and providing meaningful financial information to senior management.

The successful candidate will be commercially minded, technically strong and comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities Take responsibility for the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts. Support the month-end and year-end close processes. Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations. Analyse financial performance, identifying variances and key trends. Provide financial information and analysis to senior management to support business decisions. Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning. Maintain strong financial controls and ensure accounting processes are accurate and effective.

Oversee and review transactional finance activities where required. Support stock accounting, inventory reporting and manufacturing-related financial analysis. Assist with standard costing, product costing and analysis of manufacturing variances. Monitor overheads, margins and other key financial performance indicators. Liaise with external auditors and assist with the preparation of year-end accounts. Support the Finance Manager/Financial Controller with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and controls. About You The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience in a Senior Accountant, Management Accountant or similar role . Strong month-end and management accounts experience.

Experience with in a manufacturing or product-based environment is highly desirable. Good understanding of stock, inventory and cost accounting. Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data. Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach. The ability to analyse financial information and explain findings clearly to non-finance colleagues. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. A proactive and commercially focused approach.

Experience of working with an ERP/accounting system. ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or significant progress towards qualification) would be advantageous, although relevant experience will also be considered. Salary:
Up to £50,000 depending on experience.
